A Camera in Every Pocket
Response
I do agree that the rise in camera phones is causing a decline in professional photography, however it is making photography a more easily accessible hobby. Based on my life, I see that a large majority of the population enjoys taking pictures. If every single person that wanted to start photography as a hobby had to go out and buy a camera, it would not rise to popularity. People enjoy it due to its expressive nature and the fact most people are able to do it. It is an art form that does not involve being able to draw or paint, you just have to be able to find a subject and capture it. However, from the view point of a professional photographer, this must be frustrating. Since a wide variety of people are now creating businesses out of a hobby or are not hiring photographers because they are taking their own photographs. Their businesses are declining because what they do it rising to popularity. This rise to popularity should be viewed as a good thing, but it is causing problems for these artists. Therefore, I do agree camera phones are causing declines in professional photography, but inclines in photography.
